I miss the days of escaping Chicago.
Just you and I, in your fortress by the lake,
Cuddling on your green leather couch, in front of a fire;
While missing movie plots because we were too busy kissing.
I cherish the time we spent on the beach,
Kayaking, or surfing until the sun went down,
Going to the Whistle Stop, for morning coffee and muffins,
And eating at The Stray Dog for dinner.
Walks on the beach, playing piano by moonlight,
Painting henna tattoos,
And drawing all night.
Those were the days,
We had no cares in the world,
We were untouchable.
And after four years,
We've been through so much,
And made it through,
Virtually untouched.
And now, once again,
I feel carefree,
We can do what we please,
I'm invincible, as long as you're with me.
